SARAH JOHNSON, ANTIQUE RESTORER
Sarah Johnson is an antiques restorer in Fairfax who specializes in restoration of 18th century furniture. She takes great pleasure in returning antique furniture to its original beauty using materials and methods commonplace when the furniture was built, like fish glue and hand planes.

DECEMBER 9th MEETING, 7-9 AT PHEC, ROOM 112
ANNUAL MEMBERS PROJECTS
Members that have finished a project this year should bring it in to Show and Tell. Even a photo will be welcome if the project is too big to bring in. All projects that are shown at this meeting will earn the woodworker a Chance for Holiday Gift. This is a change from our past practice of giving a gift to all members that bring a project. This year we will have 6, $50 Gift Certificates that will be raffled to those that bring a project. Also if you can spare some special Holiday food, please bring it to the meeting to add to our annual social gathering with good cheer. Coffee and soft drinks will be served.

In February of this year JFC Construction hosted a Shop Tour for the Diablo Woodworkers. It was the largest attended shop tour ever. No one went away disappointed. We saw some spectacular equipment and some beautiful wood. Some woodworkers were unable to attend the first meeting and we have been ask to set up another tour. JFC will be the first of two tours in November.
Directions: Drive North on Contra Costa Blvd. toward Martinez. It becomes Pacheco Blvd. about where it passes under Hwy. 4. Continue on Pacheco to 4901 on the right side. It is a new building behind a chain link fence.

TOY Special Interest Group: 2009 TOY PROJECT, "FULL STEAM AHEAD"
Dan Pacheco is Chairing the Car and Truck building part of the Toy Project. Andrew Armstrong is Chairing the Cradle building part of the Toy Project. We still need Volunteers for the other toys, Pull Toys, Treasure Boxes, Airplanes, etc.
Friday afternoons, 1:00-4:00pm. Toy Building workshop October to Thanksgiving, look for an announcements on-line. We are planning on another 600 plus toys for 2009. Please come and help.
Router/Shop Tips Special Interest Group - Meetings at John Summers' Shop, 1672 Clayton Way, Concord, 925-681-1407, the Monday before Wednesday DW meeting. Also on the 3rd Thursday of each month at Woodcraft 6-8 pm. Don't forget your hearing protection!
TURNING Special Interest Group: - Meetings in room 207 at PHEC, 7pm the first Thursday of each month. To join in the Turning SIG call George Lucido at 925-254-3659.

| Memorial Flag Case Project We have Memorial Flag Cases that are given out free to any local Fire or Police family member that is lost in the line of duty. Plans for these cases are on our club web site. Gordon Fry, 925-685-1676 is the Chairperson for this project. Call him if you would like to help build them. |

Flag Cases were given to several local police and fire fighting families in the last couple of years. It is our honor to help in memories of these men who lost their lives in their community's service.
Sign Up for Wooden Name Badges and Reminder: If you don't have a Name Badge, contact John Stout 925-676-7271 and get one. They will be very important in getting discounts at local lumber yards and other stores in the area. While we are on the subject of discounts, if you can, the next time you find a convenient supplier ask if the club can get a club discount. We will gladly add them to our Favorite Supplier's list and mail them a Newsletter. Wooden Name Badges sign up is ongoing. Contact John Stout to get on the list. The Wooden Name Badges will cost $5 each. Please contact John Stout at 925-676-7271.

Diablo Woodworkers Library - See Andrew Baxter before or after the meeting. No videos will be given out during the meeting unless there are break periods. There is a $1 charge for borrowing a video or book. The videos and books must be returned at the following meeting.
